Are you a public school teacher & Staff (K to 12) who are looking for diversity and inclusion training so you can better serve your students?
Gender Justice Nevada is offering an Ally Educator event for Las Vegas, NV Educators.

We will provide accurate and inclusive definitions for the Clark County Gender Diverse and LGBTQ+ community. This fosters a feeling of inclusion and competency. We will also discuss resources and why access is important for our gender diverse children.
This is an important opporunity for all educators, no matter the student age. Most people realize they are gender non-conforming at a very early age.

This training includes:

  • Providing accurate and updated definitions about (LGBTQ+, especially gender diverse) communities.  
  • Providing a safe and non-judgmental space for providers/ employees to learn and create dialogue about bettering services for LGBTQ+ students
  • Discussing creating an affirming culture within your organization for clientele and employees. This includes imagery, paperwork and policies

  • Developing a “Safe Zone” or “Safe Space” where students can bring their authentic selves and feel safe. This proactive tstep creates welcoming, inclusive spaces so all people are empowered to reach their full potential.
  • Increase awareness, knowledge, and skills for individual and address the challenges that exist when advocating for GLBTQ+ students, family members, peers, friends, coworkers, and yourself.

Stats on LGBTQ+ people provided by the HRC Annual Survey, Williams Institute, National Center for Transgender Equality’s Transgender Survey Report:

  • 20% of LGBTQ+ employees report looking for another job specifically because their workplace environment isn’t accepting of LGBTQ+
  • 15% of transgender employees report being verbally harassed, physically attacked and/or sexually assaulted at work within the last year because of their gender identity or
  • More than 50% of LGBTQ+ people experience some form of healthcare discrimination
  • One on five trans people have been denied medical services due to their gender identity
  • 40% of transgender people had attempted suicide compared to 4.6% of the general population
